The History Of Central Towing & Transport

In 1937, an enterprising young man named Romeo Brunelli founded an auto dealership called Central Chevrolet, which later developed a towing division to serve both itself and a few local county and state agencies. In the 1950s, Richard Brunelli, having worked in both businesses as a second-generation member of the family, began the gradual process of taking over the companies as Mr. Brunelli Sr. retired.

Decades Of Training, Accreditation & Expansion

Membership in the California Tow Truck Association came at a time when the CTTA was building its nationally recognized driver training programs, and Piening quickly took advantage of the availability of professional training for our staff. He was also elected as a director before receiving an appointment to the State Education Committee. Our expertise attracted more customers, including most major motor clubs, as well as an expanding commercial clientele.

The company continued its exponential growth even as Piening was elected president of the CTTA Greater Bay Area Chapter. With a strong staff of 12 by 1993, we took the next step of computerizing operations under the direction of software engineer Micheal Angeli. Having completely outgrown our modest building, we also began constructing a new, carefully planned permanent facility.

Going Above & Beyond The Competition

We created an in-house safety training program to supplement outside training by state and national programs. We updated our fleet to handle greater weights and more delicate, low-angle car and truck bodies. To this day, staff incentive programs push our company to deliver quality care and build close long-term relationships with our clients. Our driver training and retention programs have proven successful and have stabilized employment despite California's turbulent labor market.

Moving into a new state-of-the-art facility has enabled us to continue on a path of growth, with the addition of new locations in Tracy and Livermore. This new facility has the technology to dispatch drivers instantly from all three locations. It is staffed around the clock by operators trained to assess your situation and send the right truck to the rescue.
